BACD is regularly asked to comment consultations, such as NICE/SIGN, and other government department consultations. We welcome views from all members - you do not need to be an expert!

NICE draft scope: Children and young people with severe complex needs: integrated health and social care support and service guidance deadline for comments Tuesday 29th Jan

NICE would particularly welcome comments on how to focus the scope further. NICE is aware that the population for the guideline is large and diverse, and the list of questions to be addressed currently quite long. Suggestions as to issues or groups where NICE guidance can add value would be useful

The consultation documents are: the draft scope and Equality impact assessment

Click here for the comments form; if you have any comments please complete and return to bacd@rcpch.ac.uk by 9am on Tuesday 29th January – NICE will only accept comments that have been entered into the correct parts of the form, so please do ensure you make it clear which sections you are commenting on.

We are interested to hear from you even if you have no specific comments to make, and are happy with the consultation document, as this will enable us to feedback to the developer that we support the document.

NICE is also recruiting people with a practitioner, care provider or commissioner background and lay members to join the committee for this guideline. NICE draft scope:Epilepsies in children, young people and adults deadline for comments Wednesday 30th Jan

The scope sets out what will be included and excluded from the final guideline, including populations and treatments. It cannot be changed after the scope is finalised.

Please note that although there are still two pages on the NICE website for separate guidelines on epilepsies in children and young people and epilepsies in adults, NICE has decided, as a result of feedback from the stakeholder workshop, to combine the previously separate scopes into one, for a single guideline that will update and replace CG137.  As stakeholders may have bookmarked one or the other existing webpage, NICE has left them as they are for now and made the new joint scope available on both.
