Researchers at Newcastle University are conducting a survey of current provision of speech and language therapy services to children with communication difficulties and cerebral palsy (CP) across the UK.
We ran a similar survey in 2011. We will compare the results of this survey with results from the 2011 survey, to examine the change in service provision. We will use the results to support applications for research grants to investigate the effects and acceptability of different methods of treatment.
Results for the survey will be made available to paediatric speech and language therapy services to help local and regional service planning and development. We will also write up a longer report our findings for publication.
The survey can be completed anonymously. At the end of the survey people can submit their email address if they would like the results of the survey to be sent directly to them. Responders do not have to give this information. In the survey we do not ask for employer names. We will not compare or name individual service providers.
The survey has been approved by Newcastle University Faculty of Medical Sciences Research Ethics Committee.
We are seeking the views of all SLTs working with children who have CP. We would be grateful if you could notify your SLT colleagues about the survey.
